Costa Rica's San International Airport is a fully functioning international airport with advanced and traveler friendly systems for customs and security. Direct flights from ten major U.S. cities with three to five hour flight times make Costa Rica easily accessible. There are many smaller airfields that allow for domestic air travel. Charters and small commercial flights are a cheap and excellent way to navigate large distances within Costa Rica.

Domestic flights are usually $75-$100 each way. (higher during December to April)
In general, the Domestic Airline Policies are:
- Infants and children up to the age of 2 fly for free.
- 25 lbs per person for all baggage
- Extra luggage carries an additional charge (call ahead for these reasons)
